One Day Starting Right

This one day clinic is designed for young or green horses preparing to begin their journey under saddle - and for owners who want to understand the process. Rather than simply "breaking" horses, we focus on education, communication and building a confident foundation for both horse and rider.

Each clinic is tailored to the individual horses and participants, with the content adjusted to suit their experience, needs and the areas they're looking to develop. The following are some of the key areas we may work through during the day:

What We Cover

Foundational Ground Skills  

•        Catching with willingness and respect    
•        Confident leading and body control      
•        Control of individual body parts    
•        Foot handling and preparation for the farrier    
•        Teaching focus and mental engagement

Preparing for Tack & Rider    

•        Introducing bridle, girth and saddle correctly      
•        Mouthing and preparing for contact    
•        Understanding voice cues    
•        Relaxation exercises to reduce tension      
•        Sensitising and desensitising appropriately

Movement & Education from the Ground    
 
•        Walk, trot, back up and canter transitions from the ground      
•        Smooth execution of cues before mounting        
•        Understanding educational consequences and timing      
•        Developing softness and feel

Real-World Preparation  

•        Obstacles for confidence building
•        Float training    
•        Pony horseing to build experience and exposure

By the end of this clinic, participants will have greater understanding of their horse's individual needs and a clearer framework for continuing their education with confidence, softness and feel.
